Delta Marine Consultants (DMC) intends to introduce a new armour unit to the market, which firstly has to be investigated considering its performance on a breakwater under wave attack. More precisely, the new stones have to be resistant against strong breaking waves without intolerable displacement and the wave reflection has to be minimized.
As the scope of this study is to test the new armour units physical model tests (Froude similitude) were proposed in the new wave-current basin of the Ludwig-Franzius-Institute for Hydraulic, Estuarine and Coastal Engineering (LuFI), Leibniz Univer-sität Hannover. The chosen scale refers to the maximum wave height in relation to the stone size which can be generated by the wave maker in the wave basin.
